Zurich Greencity is a pioneering sustainable urban district located in the southwest of Zurich, Switzerland, near the Sihl Valley and the foothills of the Üetliberg mountain. Covering approximately 8 hectares, Greencity embodies the principles of the “2000 Watt Society” aimed at drastically reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. The district fuses residential, office, commercial, and public spaces, creating a vibrant mixed-use community designed to accommodate around 2,200 residents and 3,000 jobs.
Located in the dynamic Zurich-West district, Greencity occupies a 110,000 square meter. The development comprises 11 building complexes containing apartments, offices, retail spaces, a hotel, and community facilities. Developed through a partnership between Losinger Marazzi AG and the City of Zurich, the project is certified under both the MINERGIE-P-ECO standard (Switzerland’s highest benchmark for sustainable construction) and the 2000-Watt-Site certification, validating its performance in energy efficiency and sustainable resource use.

Environmental & Nature
Its zero-carbon neighbourhood incorporates cutting-edge environmental technologies such as small-scale hydroelectric power, energy-efficient construction aligned with Minergie and LEED certifications, and smart grid integration to optimize energy use. Greencity’s infrastructure promotes sustainable mobility with excellent public transit access, pedestrian and cycling networks, and discouragement of car dependency. Green spaces, constructed wetlands for stormwater management, and preserved natural landscapes enhance biodiversity and climate resilience.
Smart City
It applies smart, low-carbon technologies guided by the 2000-Watt Society vision. Powered by renewable energy from EWZ, it features solar panels, geothermal heating, and smart meters for efficient energy use. EV charging, shared mobility, and rainwater recycling systems further enhance sustainability, making it a model for tech-driven, climate-neutral urban living.
Human-Centric
Greencity offers a high quality of life with abundant green spaces, courtyards, a central park, and playgrounds. The architecture emphasizes natural light, open spaces, and non-toxic building materials, creating a healthy and vibrant community environment that fosters social interaction.
