Proposed Participant

Telosa is a visionary planned city project in the United States, conceived by billionaire Marc Lore and designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). Announced in 2021, Telosa aims to become a sustainable, equitable, and human-centric urban model for the future. The city targets a population of 5 million by 2050, with the first phase accommodating 50,000 residents by around 2030. The exact location remains to be selected, with potential sites including states such as Nevada, Utah, and Texas.

Designed from scratch, Telosa embodies the concept of a “15-minute city,” where all essential services, schools, workplaces, parks, and retail are within a short walk or ride. The urban layout centres on inclusivity, public accessibility, and environmental integration. Transport excludes fossil-fuel vehicles, relying instead on bicycles, electric autonomous vehicles, scooters, and a skytram system. Green infrastructure, including vast native plantings and reservoirs, forms a central public spine for the city.

Future Cities criteria compliance

Environmental & Nature

Environmental resilience is a priority with strategies for carbon neutrality, water recycling, renewable energy generation, and habitat conservation. Buildings are designed for minimal environmental impact, while the city’s green spine helps sequester carbon and supports biodiversity.

Smart City

Telosa incorporates advanced smart-city infrastructure, including IoT-connected systems for energy, water, and waste management, alongside AI-powered sustainability monitoring. The city employs renewable energy technologies and digital platforms to optimize urban operations and facilitate data-driven governance.

Human-Centric

At its core, Telosa fosters “equitism,” a social model promoting equitable land ownership and resources managed as community endowments. The design emphasizes social inclusion, walkability, and community interaction, supporting a high quality of life with accessible education, health, and cultural facilities.
