The Songdo International Business District (IBD) is a pioneering, privately-financed “Smart City” built on 5.77 km sq of reclaimed land located in South Korea’s Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ). Launched in 2003, its vision is to be a technologically-integrated and sustainable urban model, serving as a strategic hub for international business and high-tech industries in Northeast Asia. Its prime location near Incheon International Airport and Seoul is key to attracting global organizations.

The district features eco-friendly buildings, smart infrastructure, and extensive green spaces, including a large central park and waterfront areas. It hosts major institutions like the Green Climate Fund and the World Bank Korea office. The city integrates seamless digital connectivity with smart traffic systems, telepresence centres, and high-efficiency utilities.

Smart City

Songdo deploys cutting-edge urban technologies including IoT sensors, smart grids, high-speed digital infrastructure, and automated building management systems to optimize energy, waste, and traffic.

Human-Centric

Though technologically advanced, Songdo focuses on creating accessible public spaces, walkability, and community amenities to foster social connection.
