Smart Forest City Cancun is an innovative urban development project envisioned by architect Stefano Boeri, located near Cancun, Mexico. Spanning approximately 557 hectares, this pioneering city aims to harmonize nature with urban life to create a self-sufficient, eco-efficient metropolis that serves as a model for future urban development emphasizing symbiosis between people and the environment.
It will host about 130,000 people and feature 7.5 million plants from 350 species across 362 hectares of green space. Designed as a botanical garden city, it includes green roofs, facades, parks, and water canals irrigated by desalinated sea water. Mobility is electric and carbon-free, with residents leaving vehicles at the outskirts. The city also plans research centres for bio-healthcare, astrophysics, smart city innovation, and precision farming.
