New Alamein City is a vast, fourth-generation urban development located on Egypt’s northwest Mediterranean coast, designed to integrate tourism, residential living, cultural, commercial, and research facilities. Spanning over 48,000 acres with the capacity for more than 3 million people, the city aims to transform the historic El Alamein area into a modern, year-round smart metropolis. Launched as part of Egypt’s coastal-development strategy, New Alamein serves as a global destination and a solution to reduce Cairo’s congestion, fostering economic growth and sustainable urban living.

The city is located on Egypt’s North Coast, within the administrative borders of the Marsa Matrouh Governorate. It stretches approximately 48 km along the Alexandria–Marsa Matrouh Coastal Road. The city is a multi-phase development featuring distinct zones: a touristic area with luxury resorts and hotels, a central administrative and business district. It is designed to create a new economic corridor, serving as a model for Egypt’s future urban expansion.

According to UN-Habitat, the city is designed to be a resilient and environmentally sustainable urban development within ecological limits. Its master plan emphasizes green building standards, water conservation, and the preservation of natural landscapes.

The city incorporates extensive green corridors, parks, and renewable energy sources, including large-scale wastewater treatment and desalination plants aimed at achieving water self-sufficiency. These initiatives support a low-resource, eco-oriented infrastructure to promote long-term sustainability while supporting economic development.

Smart City

As a fourth-generation city, New Alamein’s infrastructure is managed by a central data center, coordinating security, utilities, and telecommunications. This focus on a data-driven central management system is foundational to its smart city goals. The city features smart parking management systems and integrated services for efficiency and security, supported by advanced road and transportation networks.

Human-Centric

It prioritizes accessibility, inclusivity, and community wellbeing. The city features walkable neighbourhoods, extensive public parks, and family-friendly leisure amenities that encourage social interaction. Its design balances modern living conveniences with cultural heritage, emphasizing residents’ comfort and safety near the natural Mediterranean coast. Key features include public access beaches and a 14km waterfront promenade, alongside diverse housing catering to multiple income levels, top education fostering vibrant and inclusive community life.
