Konza Technopolis is a flagship project of the Kenyan Government and a cornerstone of the national Kenya Vision 2030 strategy, designed to transition the country into a newly industrializing, middle-income economy. Popularly known as “Silicon Savannah,” it is one of the most ambitious smart city projects in East and Central Africa.
Located approximately 60 km southeast of Nairobi, this 5,000-acre, master-planned technopolis is being developed to foster a dynamic ecosystem for science, technology, and innovation. Upon completion, the city is projected to contribute at least 2% to Kenya’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and create thousands of jobs, establishing the nation as a leading technology hub and creating a sustainable, digitally driven city with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Environmental & Nature
Sustainability is a core foundation of Konza Technopolis. The greenfield city integrates green building standards, water recycling and stormwater management systems, and Kenya’s first city-scale automated pneumatic waste collection network (Envac), significantly reducing emissions and improving urban hygiene.
Uniquely, Konza incorporates a dedicated wildlife corridor and protected green spaces, enabling biodiversity conservation and coexistence between urban development and natural ecosystems. Public transport, walkable streets, renewable energy integration, and climate-resilient design position Konza as a low-carbon future city model for Africa.
Smart City
Konza is envisioned as a fully connected, data-driven smart city built with digital infrastructure at its core. Anchored by a national data centre, high-capacity fibre-optic backbone, and an integrated smart city management platform, Konza leverages IoT, AI, and automation to optimize energy, mobility, security, and public services. This embedded “smart-by-design” approach allows Konza to function as a living laboratory for next-generation urban technologies.
Human-Centric
Konza is designed around people, innovation, and quality of life. Compact, mixed-use districts combine residential areas, research universities, innovation hubs, workplaces, green corridors, and recreation spaces within walkable distances. Public plazas, civic centres, and safe, accessible streets foster creativity, collaboration, and social interaction.
