GREENHOUSE STHLM
Kungsholmen, Stockholm
Sweden
Greenhouse Sthlm is a sustainable urban development project located in western Kungsholmen, Stockholm, Sweden, designed as a model for modern, low-carbon living integrated with nature and community-focused amenities. It is developed through a partnership between Skanska and Electrolux, incorporating innovative construction techniques with a focus on climate impact reduction and green building certifications. The project exemplifies a ‘small city within the city’ concept, prioritising proximity to transit and green spaces to reduce reliance on cars and promote a sustainable lifestyle.

Environmental & Nature
The project achieves exceptional sustainability standards through energy-efficient design, extensive green spaces promoting biodiversity, hydroponic gardening supplying local restaurants, and construction practices reducing carbon footprint dramatically compared to conventional methods. The use of wood as a primary material stores more carbon than emitted during building and aligns with climate-neutral goals.
Smart City
Greenhouse Sthlm incorporates smart building technologies, renewable energy installations like solar panels on roofs and facades, and innovative timber construction certified by BREEAM Outstanding and Sweden’s NollCO2 certification. Digital infrastructure supports communal resources management such as car and bike sharing and energy monitoring, enabling efficient urban living.
Human-Centric
Creating a space to accommodate 3000 people with human well-being prioritised, Greenhouse Sthlm offers community lounges, shared kitchens, balcony and terrace access, social gardening spaces, and direct access to public transport. Facilities include fitness and swimming pools, enhancing health and social interaction, while the neighbourhood integrates seamlessly with existing urban life to create a lively, connected community.
