Proposed Participant

Grand Faw Port is a major national infrastructure project located near the city of Al-Faw on the Arabian Gulf coast, Iraq. It is designed to become one of the largest ports in the world and the largest in the Middle East. This strategic port aims to transform Iraq into a regional and global trade hub by enhancing its maritime logistics capacity and connectivity to international markets.

The Grand Faw Port Smart City project encompasses the development of advanced maritime facilities, deep-water berths, container terminals, and bulk cargo handling capable of serving millions of containers per year. It covers a land area of approximately 54 square kilometers and includes integrated infrastructure such as the Development Road, a 1,200 km trade corridor connecting the port to Europe via Turkey. The port’s initial phase, successfully completed in 2024, includes five berths with planned expansion to 100 berths. The project is led by the Iraqi government in collaboration with international companies such as Daewoo Engineering (South Korea) and Technital (Italy) to ensure modern design and operational excellence.
