DUQM NEW CITY
AL WUSTA
Oman
Duqm New City in Oman is an ambitious urban development project designed to transform the Duqm area from a primarily industrial zone into a vibrant, sustainable city. Managed by the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD), the project embodies Oman’s vision to diversify its economy while integrating modern urban living spaces with traditional Omani culture and environmental stewardship.
Spanning a broad coastal area including the industrial port and SEZ, Duqm New City plans to accommodate around 100,000 residents with diverse neighbourhoods such as the City Centre District, Rock Garden District, and Civic District. The City Centre is focused on commercial and social activities with retail, cultural venues, and high-density housing near the coast. The Rock Garden District emphasises pedestrian-friendly living with tree-lined streets, retail spaces, and urban avenues. The Civic District houses vital public services, hospitals, educational institutions, and parkland, creating a balanced urban environment.
