Developed on a brownfield site once occupied by light industry for over a century, Dockside Green exemplifies one of Canada’s pioneering efforts in sustainable community building grounded in local, environmentally conscious living. The project is widely recognised for its green building standards and integrated ecosystem of nature, life, and industry.
The community blends luxury residential towers like Dockside Green Tower 3 with retail, parks, recreational amenities, and waterfront access. It promotes active living through fitness centres, bakeries, communal spaces, and multi-use waterfront trails. Extensive environmental cleanup included detoxifying petrochemical and hazardous materials, while exceeding national energy efficiency codes. The site features a centralised biomass gasification plant providing heat and hot water, and wastewater treatment recycling water for irrigation and greywater use.
