Proposed Participant

Diamniadio is a large-scale planned city development project located approximately 30 kilometers from Dakar, Senegal, conceived as a response to overcrowding in Dakar and the need for sustainable urban expansion. Approved in 2013 under President Macky Sall, it seeks to establish a modern, functional urban centre combining residential, business, governmental, and educational institutions, fostering economic growth and social development.

Spanning over 2,500 hectares, Diamniadio is designed to accommodate nearly one million residents by 2035. Key features include a digital technology park with data centres and business incubators, multiple government ministries relocating there, university housing, and well-planned green spaces. Transport connectivity includes the nearby Blaise Diagne International Airport and the Regional Express Train linking Diamniadio to Dakar. The city aims to create significant employment opportunities with an estimated 35,000 direct and 105,000 indirect jobs by 2025.
