Proposed Participant

Danhai New Town is a planned urban development located in the Tamsui District of New Taipei City, Taiwan. It represents a modern extension of New Taipei, integrating residential, commercial, and recreational spaces with a focus on sustainable and human-centric urban growth supported by smart city technologies. Developed as part of New Taipei City’s expansion strategy, Danhai New Town aims to alleviate urban density by creating a well-planned suburban hub with accessible public transport, green spaces, and modern amenities. Officially part of the New Taipei metropolitan area, the city promotes connectivity via the Danhai Light Rail, which began operation in 2018, linking residents efficiently to the rest of the region.

Danhai New Town combines residential housing with commercial centres, parks, schools, and cultural facilities, designed to foster a high quality of life. The light rail transit system is central to the urban layout, supporting low-emission transport and reducing traffic congestion. The town emphasises walkability and community spaces, forming a sustainable and vibrant environment to support population growth.
