Proposed Participant

Bonifacio Global City (BGC), also called “The Fort,” is a 240-hectare mixed-use business district in Taguig, Philippines. Once a military camp, it was redeveloped by BCDA with Ayala Land and Evergreen Holdings. Today, BGC is a leading hub for business and lifestyle, known for its modern design and often compared to cities like Singapore.

BGC was designed to be a world-class city that competes with top Asian urban centers. It hosts the Philippine Stock Exchange, global companies, luxury condos, malls, and international schools. Built around the “live, work, and play” concept, it offers a vibrant and modern lifestyle in a well-planned environment.

Future Cities criteria compliance

Environmental & Nature

BGC emphasizes sustainability through green infrastructure and open spaces. With around 20 parks, including Track 30th and Terra 28th, it encourages active living. Projects like the Greenway Park and recycling initiatives show a focus on future readiness, while an underground detention tank helps prevent flooding.

Smart City

BGC uses technology to improve city management and services. As a PEZA-accredited economic zone, it attracts tech-driven and BPO companies. Although it lacks a fully centralized command centre, BCDA focuses on better planning and sustainability. Digital tools help manage the city efficiently and solve urban challenges.

Human-Centric

BGC is praised for its human-focused design, with wide, tree-lined, and walkable streets—uncommon in Metro Manila. It follows a “15-minute community” concept, keeping work, shopping, and recreation close by. The city also celebrates creativity through street art and large murals, giving it a vibrant, multicultural identity.
