Bismayah New City is strategically designed for Iraq’s lower-middle-class population, making it the flagship development of Iraq’s National Housing Program. The city consists of 59 blocks divided into eight towns, featuring apartment complexes, commercial districts, and social infrastructure to support community life. The master plan integrates a modern road network connecting the city to Baghdad and emphasizes rebuilding urban life through comprehensive social and civic amenities.

Bismayah New City in Iraq is the country’s largest planned urban development, located 10 km southeast of Baghdad. Initiated in 2012 and led by Hanwha Corporation and the Iraqi government’s National Investment Commission, it covers 18.3 million square metres with 100,080 residential units designed to house over 600,000 people. The project aims to address critical housing shortages caused by war, offering modern infrastructure, including schools, clinics, commercial centers, recreational facilities, and advanced water and sewage treatment plants.

Designed to include extensive green spaces and resource-efficient utilities, the project prioritizes environmental management to ensure sustainable urban growth in a war-affected region, promoting resilience and ecological balance.

The city incorporates high-tech infrastructure, including modern water treatment, sewage systems, advanced road networks, and utilities. Construction adheres to international standards, promoting smart city elements that improve living quality and operational efficiency.

Human-Centric

Focuses on community well-being with access to schools, welfare centers, healthcare facilities, and recreational spaces, aiming to foster social cohesion and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents.
